Baking Supplies & Organization

I got so many new baking supplies for Christmas from EVERYONE in my family! I decided I would share it with you along with all of the rest of my baking supplies and also show how I organize them.

The Counter Top:

My amazing mom gave me a gorgeous blue Kitchenaid mixer and a light pink Cuisinart food processor for Christmas. I have wanted a Kitchenaid mixer for as long as I can remember. When my cousin got one for her bridal shower, and let me use it, it was love at first mix (lol). I make oreo balls and red velvet oreo cupcakes so often, I've wanted an easier way to crush Oreos; this food processor is perfect for that and much more!!!

The two cookbooks are from my boyfriends mom. Here's my totally-not-an-idea-from-Pinterest-I-swear mason jar filled with colorful cupcake liners! (I'll show you where I keep the rest later..)

Inside the Cabinet:

Wow. Okay, this cabinet used to be almost unbearable to look at. or maybe that was just for me. It used to be SO unorganized. I finally decided to use little bins to organize and use up the space I had!
My cousin Pam (same cousin who got the mixer I mentioned above!), gave me this adorable Frozen tin filled with cake decorating stuff for Christmas.

I'm now keeping my icing bags, scissors, and a tip organizer (from Pam), that has previously purchased tips AND some she got me stored inside.

Sitting on top of my frozen tin is a tip organizer that my boyfriends mom gave me for Christmas. It has more of my tips inside :-)

Beside the frozen tin and tip organizer is a little cardboard container with a few more cupcake liners and some extracts stored inside.

Above all of this I have powdered sugar, brown sugar, candy melts, chocolate chips, etc.

Inside the other door of the cabinet, I have ingredients. Flour, baking soda, baking powder, shortening, and 3 things of cocoa powder...? Yeah, I don't know why.

Sitting right up front is my set of owl measuring cups! I got these from a cute store in Blowing Rock, NC. But you can find them online! They are absolutely adorable and they make measuring more fun.

Inside the bin with the red lid, I have sprinkles (Yummy!!!) and even more cupcake liners... yes. I know. I think I'm set on cupcake liners for a long while. All of the liners in this bin are from my boyfriends awesome mom! (I think she said she got all of them from Hobby Lobby.)

On top of that is another container with a blue lid. This container has food coloring inside. I tend to keep several things of red food coloring because red velvet cake is my fave!!!

Three-Ingredient Oreo Balls!

I cannot stress the deliciousness of these very simple treats. My family is addicted. Seriously, addicted. I even got a food processor for Christmas because I have grown so tired of crushing oreos by hand to make these!

They are so easy to make, which makes them even more sinful. I could make myself sick from eating too many... & I am currently eating one as I write this.

What could be more perfect than oreo crumbs... in a ball... covered in white chocolate?!

2014: My Year in Photos

Let me just say... I take too many pictures. Deciding to make a post of 12 pictures that represent the 12 months of the year seemed like a wonderful idea, but once I started looking through all the photos I have taken this year... it proved to be nearly impossible. Apparently I have taken about 3500 pictures over the past year. Narrowing that down to one for each month was not easy, but I did it! I decided to go with something important that happened that month. By important, I mean a trip, a concert, or something that I remember really well. So here goes, I guess I'll start with January, you know, since that's the first month of the year and all.

January

One thing I love about living in North Carolina is that we do occasionally get snow. In January of 2014, we just so happened to get 3 inches! Take snow and add a gorgeous sunset, and you've got my chosen photo for January.

February

It was sort of difficult to choose between a photo from my 16th birthday, or the Arctic Monkeys concert. I decided to go with this photo of Alex Turner because well, first of all, he's amazing. Second, it was the best concert I have ever been to. That's saying a lot considering the amount of concerts I have been to. The entire day and night was perfect. Riding four hours to Charlotte with my boyfriend, walking around the city, eating in a very nice restaurant, and finally seeing my all time favorite band live, it was definitely a day to remember.

March

Aren't my cousin and her now-husband the cutest couple? *insert heart eyes emoji* I took sooo many photos of them for their save-the-dates! I was so happy they asked me to take their pictures, it was so much fun! Their wedding was in June, and it was beautiful.

April

Nothing too interesting happened in April this year. So, I'm showing you what I got for Easter. I obviously like The Little Mermaid. Oh, and if you say the Reese's eggs don't taste better than the cups, you are lying to yourself.

May

Up until May of this year, I had not been to the NC Zoo since Elementary school! My wonderful boyfriend, Spencer, took me there for our 5 month anniversary. Yes, we are lame and celebrate each month together. Animals are so important to me, and I would spend every day at the zoo if I could. Giraffes being my favorite animal, I had to choose this photo.

June

At Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC! This is my lovely boyfriend, Spencer.

July

On the 8th of July this year, I saw another one of my favorite bands, The Neighbourhood. They were so amazing live, and being outdoors made it all the better.

August

At my home away from home... well, I wish. The Appalachian mountains will forever be my favorite vacation spot. I feel so at home in the mountains. In August, I finally walked across the swinging bridge on Grandfather Mountain! It was a MILE high. I thought I was going to be absolutely terrified, but it was so exhilarating. It honestly made me believe I could sky dive or something, ha ha.

September

Look at this gorgeous sunset! September was an interesting month for me. I lost someone who was very close to me. I didn't lose them in the sense that they passed away, but I lost a friend. Sometimes people grow apart, and I have learned to accept that. It's taken me a while, but I no longer feel bitter or angry towards this person. I have moved on, and have realized life is better spent focusing on the positives than the negatives, so that's what I plan to do. :-) This sunset made me realize how beautiful life truly is.

October

Of course I had to show you guys my Halloween costume for my October picture! I was Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon. It was only fitting considering I had recently dyed my hair blue.

November

December third of this year was one year for my boyfriend and I. I actually did not take too many pictures in November, so I decided to choose this photo, because, well, I made all of his gift in November. Handmade gifts are my forte. I gave him 365 skittles (yeah, I counted them all out) for 365 days together. Made a photo album of 52 of my favorite memories with him for 52 weeks. Wrote 12 reasons I love him onto 12 cards for 12 months! Lastly, I gave him 1 box of gifts for 1 year together. It was a great anniversary, he loved his gift.

December

The first year we've had a REAL Christmas tree. I LOVE IT. I always thought a real tree would murder my allergies, but I haven't even noticed a difference. We have 2 other Christmas trees in our home. One in our living room with our family ornaments on it, and one in our kitchen that's called the "candy tree," because it has candy themed ornaments. Then, this tree, the real one! We didn't have any more ornaments for this HUGE tree, so my grandma gave us some of her old ones. And let me tell you, these ornaments are old. I love them though, they've been on a lot of different trees, and I think that's special.

This year was so amazing, and I have grown so much. I'm so thankful to have spent it with an amazing boyfriend, and a wonderful family. They have made this year truly special. This time last year, I was thinking of how nice my family's Christmas would be without me this year. But I am here! I made it! And I am actually looking forward to 2015. Things get better, and I am living proof of that. Life is so tough sometimes, I have almost given up so many times, but I can't and I won't. I deserve this life and I deserve to live it to it's fullest! SO DO YOU.

HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES!

Until next time,
Madison
